Two first-team players start and 17-year-old shines in U21 clash with Sunderland

First-team duo Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett started for the U21s last night in a 1-1 draw with Sunderland at Whitley Park.

England U18 talent Anthony Munda - who was one of the standout players on the night - gave us a first-half lead after latching onto Alfie Harrison's pass and smashing into the roof of the net.

Trevan Sanusi started on the left following his eye-catching pre-season and caused havoc throughout, almost doubling our lead before the break. Eddie Howe and sporting director Paul Mitchell were both present and will have liked what they saw from the 17-year-old sensation.

Both Trippier and Targett were replaced at the break by Leo Shahar and Dylan Charlton and our lads let their lead slip in the 87th minute, as Sunderland's Timur Tuterov equalised for the Mackems.
