Newcastle set to terminate contract with permanent move 'close' - Sky Sports

It looks like Ryan Fraser is finally about to leave Newcastle United for good.

Sky Sports' Mark McAdam and Keith Downie report that the Saints are 'close' to agreeing a deal for the winger, who looks set to become a free agent after discussions to terminate his contract on Tyneside.

McAdam claims that Fraser has 'agreed a deal in principle' to leave Newcastle, with some 'final details' still to be sorted before he can complete a return to St Mary's after spending last season on loan with the newly-promoted side.

With less than 12 months remaining on his current deal and the 30-year-old on decent wages, I'd imagine we are paying off the remainder of his contract and agreeing on a final settlement before he joins Southampton on a free.

Speaking on X just moments ago, McAdam said: 'Southampton are getting closer to agreeing a deal with winger Ryan Fraser after he agreed a deal in principle to leave Newcastle. There are still some final details for Fraser to iron out with NUFC but he could become Southampton’s second Deadline Day signing.'
