A touch of class from Newcastle United

After extensive flood damage to Wimbledon’s Cherry Red Records Stadium meant the ground could not host the Magpies in the Carabao Cup, Newcastle have shown their class and helped massively with an ongoing fundraiser to repair the ground with a hefty donation.
Record high water levels from the River Wandle caused extensive damage to Wimbledon’s stadium, with sinkholes even opening up on the Plough Lane pitch.
With the ground closed until further notice, a JustGiving page has been set up to help the League Two outfit recover as quickly as possible, with Newcastle providing one of the biggest boosts to the fundraiser efforts so far.
A donation of £15,000 has come directly from the club, and over £84,000 has been raised at the time of writing to support the League Two club and fund essential repairs.
Wimbledon will also receive 45% of the gate receipts from the re-scheduled fixture, which will take place at St James’ Park on the 1st of October.
Graham Stacey, a former member of the Dons Trust board and who set up the JustGiving page in question, expressed his immense thanks to Newcastle and all those who have helped Wimbledon in this difficult time.
