Newcastle suffer new injury blow - Mr. Reliable set to miss remainder of 2024?

Emil Krafth has suffered a broken collarbone in training and could be sidelined for the remainder of 2024 as a result.

After the right-back was missing from Sunday’s squad at Nottingham Forest, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has confirmed rumours that the Swede has suffered an injury, which has seen him pull out of the national team's squad ahead of upcoming games against Slovakia and Azerbaijan.

With Dan Burn suspended for our upcoming game against West Ham after the international break, the injury comes at a bad time for Newcastle, who will have Fabian Schar and Lloyd Kelly as their only fit centre-backs against the Hammers.

Fortunately, however, Kelly did look comfortable in the heart of defence in our recent 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, so one game against Julen Lopetegui’s side shouldn’t be a cause for concern and instead a big opportunity for the former Bournemouth man to show his worth.

If Kostas Tsimikas’ collarbone fracture in December 2023 is anything to go by, then Krafth could be out for around seven weeks, which would see him miss crucial games in both the league and our home clash with Brentford in the quarter finals Carabao Cup.
