Newcastle ready to offer Callum Wilson plus cash for Eddie Howe's top target - Report

According to a report from The Sun, Newcastle United are prepared to offer Callum Wilson in part-exchange deal to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

Eddie Howe is thought to be a big fan of the right-winger and has reportedly identified the Cameroonian as our 'number one' target as we head towards the January window in dire need of an upgrade down that side.

Should Brentford be willing to discuss a deal for the attacker, it's believed Newcastle would be willing to include Wilson in the deal, though it’s unclear how that would actually affect the price, with Mbeumo valued at around the £50m mark.

Given Wilson’s injury record, age and the fact his contract is set to expire in the summer, we surely can’t expect his value to knock a considerable amount off the asking price, especially when Mbeumo is fit and firing with eight goals in his opening 11 games this season.

Another potential obstacle for us would be if Liverpool come calling, with The Sun reporting that the Reds are considering the 25-year-old as a potential replacement for Mohammed Salah; who could leave for Saudi Arabia at the end of the season if he fails to sign a new contract.
