Newcastle 'very keen' to sign Borussia Dortmund winger - Report
Newcastle United are 'very keen' on Borussia Dortmund’s 18-year-old sensation Julien Duranville, according to reports.
This comes from FootballTransfers, who reveal that Eddie Howe is a huge fan of the player who widely regarded as one of Europe’s top young talents.
The story mentions that the teenager has struggled with injuries and is predominantly a left-winger, where Newcastle are well stocked with Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes, and Joelinton in that position, but it could be that it's a transfer for the future, rather than now.
In any case, the versatile Belgian is capable of playing on either flank, which will no doubt be of interest to Howe, who tends to value versatility. It's thought that Howe is eager to sign Duranville and prepared to overlook his injuries, suggesting the youngster could be worth the risk.
However, it seems Newcastle could face fierce competition for his signature, with Bayern Munich also keen. It's believed their interest stems partly from Vincent Kompany, who coached Duranville during his time at Anderlecht. The Manchester City legend, who gave the youngster his professional debut at just 16, has been tracking his progress ever since and remains a firm admirer of his talent.
There has not been a Dortmund transfer to Bayern for a long time and BVB would rather make a sale to a club abroad, which would give Newcastle the advantage in that sense.
