Gordon names his "player of the season" so far during ITV interview - Absolutely class

Anthony Gordon showed his class both on and off the pitch during last night's 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Not only did the winger scored our second goal and put in a huge shift to help us protect our lead, he spoke with such class in a post-match interview with ITV.

His attitude is first class and it showed last night, both in his measured reaction to our 2-0 win but also in his praise for an unsung hero who put in another huge performance to help us over the line.

Gordon's names his "player of the season" so far

Anthony Gordon has picked out Dan Burn for special praise following another monstrous performance from the big man from Blyth.

After praising man of the moment Alexander Isak, Gordon hailed our defensive effort and gave a special mention to an unsung hero in Burn, claiming the Geordie giant has been our "player of the season" and "outstanding" in every game.

Speaking to ITV Football after the match, he said: “It’s all about attitude and our attitude today [vs Arsenal] was unbelievable to a man. But I want to mention Dan Burn, he’s been our Player of the Season, for me. Every game he’s been outstanding.”

Gordon's interview, which you can watch below, also featured some intriguing words on our recent turnaround and position in the cup tie, insisting it's "far from over" against a top Arsenal side.

"We don't have time to be celebrating this one. They're one of the best sides in Europe, it's only 2-0. We need to stay humble."

Gordon bang on with Burn praise

Over our last seven games, we've not only scored 20 games and won all of them, but kept five clean sheets and conceded just twice.

Burn has been consistent all season and has really stepped up over the past month, being a tower of consistency and strength to help us concede just once across recent wins over Aston Villa, Man Utd, Spurs and Arsenal.

Sven Botman is back fit and Fabian Schar continues to age like a fine wine, but we've needed Burn to step up after missing out on Marc Guehi over the summer - and he's done exactly that.

Big Dan Burn; our 6ft 7' brick wall from Blyth.
