Newcastle plan to reignite interest in two £50m wingers - Alan Nixon

It's widely reported that Newcastle United will be price out of moves for expensive Premier League stars demanding a premium this month.

However, if we don't sign a right-winger over the next fortnight, we can fully expect one to arrive over the summer - and it's believed a familiar name remains on our radar alongside a player currently impressing at Eddie Howe's former club

Talk of an end-of-season move for Bryan Mbeumo has resurfaced, but two other names have been mentioned (again) with a potential summer move in mind.

Two £50m wingers linked again

According to The Sun's Alan Nixon, Newcastle remain keen on Nottingham Forest's Anthony Elanga and could rival Liverpool for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

Nixon reports that Semenyo is valued at £50m by Bournemouth and highly unlikely to leave this month, despite the Cherries showing interest in a £30m move for Liverpool loan star Ben Doak.

Semenyo is cup tied after playing in their FA Cup third round win over West Brom last weekend and playing a key role in their push for Europe, with Bournemouth currently just three points behind Chelsea in fifth ahead of their trip to St James' Park on Saturday.

As for Elanga, it seems our interest hasn't gone away after the club had a deadline day bid rejected for the Swede back in August.

Sky Sports reported that our late bid was worth a whopping £50m, although Forest will be glad they said no after going on an incredible run of form this season, seeing them sit third in the table and three clear of Newcastle after 20 games.

New winger more likely to sign this summer?

January signings are never easy, as most clubs do not want to lose first-team stars midway through a season.

Considering Forest are very much on for a top-four finish and Bournemouth have an outside chance at Europe, the only way they'd entertain January exits is if we offered silly money; something we won't do within the world of PSR.

Even if Miguel Almiron looks all set to rejoin former club Atlanta United for around £10m, it feels far more likely that we go big in the summer for a new right-winger, especially with Jacob Murphy doing such a good a job for now.
