Awful 3/10, several 4s and one 6.5 - Player ratings from Newcastle 1-4 Bournemouth

A pretty awful performance from Newcastle United as we were collectively outplayed and individually woeful in a brutal 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth.

Here's our marks out of 10 and comments on all players involved in today's game at St James' Park:

Dubravka (5.5) - Kept the scoreline down with a few good saves but could've done better for Bournemouth's second.

Livramento (3) - Had a shocker. Wasn’t at the races all game and could not cope with Semenyo, who beat him easily for their opener. Sloppy on the ball and was shifted to left back in the second half, which didn’t improve things.

Botman (4) - Never looked comfortable at the right side of the defence. Still getting up to speed after a long layoff but was hooked at halftime.

Burn (4) - Poor pass to Bruno led to the second goal and was given a torrid time all game. Did produce some vital blocks to keep the score down, but he was all over the place at times.

Hall (4) - Has been superb defensively of late but he was way off it here. Shrugged off the ball far too often, beaten by Brooks consistently and was out of position too many times. Assist for the goal but that was the only highlight.

Guimaraes (5) - Will be bruised in the morning. Was fouled countless times and really struggled with the aggressive Bournemouth press. Dispossessed in an awful area for the second goal. Great header gave us a glimmer of hope, but he was robbed of possession too many times and sometimes wanted a free kick when he was muscled off it.

Tonali (6.5) - Best of a bad bunch today. Covered every blade of grass, got stuck in and made plenty recovery runs, but was unsettled by the aggressive press. Wasn’t able to link up with Bruno as often which is credit to Bournemouth.

Joelinton (4.5) - Very little quality on the ball and seemed more interested in throwing his weight around. Rare day where we were beaten in the midfield

Murphy (4) - Anonymous. Hopefully his purple patch isn’t over but offered nothing today. He wasn’t alone

Gordon (4.5) - Venomous volley was goal bound if not for a great block by Huijsen and had one cleared off the line in injury time. However, it was his awful giveaway for the third goal sealed the three points for the Cherries and his set piece delivery was woeful.

Isak (4.5)- Never got involved in the game at all. Didn’t come close to scoring for the ninth consecutive game. Very disappointing performance which is a common theme from today, sadly.

Subs:

Schar (4) - Early giveaway should’ve been punished and things didn’t improve as the half went on. Not his finest half of football.

Trippier (4) - Should’ve taken the free kick instead of Isak, but was nowhere near Kerkez for the fourth goal.

Willock (3.5) - Literally did nothing. His form this season is becoming a real concern. Hard to see what he’s bringing to the team

Osula (NR) - Barely got a touch.
