After Eddie Howe spoke to the media on Friday morning, Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes and star striker Alexander Isak were then on media duties to speak with the local media.

Sunday's Carabao Cup final was the big topic of discussion and both spoke well, with determination and real focus as Newcastle prepare to take on Arne Slot's Liverpool.

Bruno Guimaraes spoke with confidence and calmness ahead of Sunday's cup final, insisting the team are very confident, relaxed but determined to bring a trophy back to Tyneside.

As always, he realises the importance of delivering silverware at a club he clearly adores and his message was clear; 'stay positive, we will give it our all and we are a great team at our best.'

Speaking to the media on Friday morning, Bruno said: "We're feeling good, it's a good opportunity for ourselves, everyone is very excited, as a team and a city we have worked very hard to get here, and hopefully we can finally get this trophy back to Newcastle."

"We are more relaxed but we know if we win, what it will mean to the fans. We want to make everyone in this city happy. We have to play our game, nothing different and hopefully everything would be good for us. Our confidence is very high at the moment."

Bruno's mindset - Privilege over pressure

It's a mindset Eddie Howe has pushed in the past and one Bruno is adopting, with the Brazilian insisting our chance to make history at Newcastle United and make the city proud is a privilege, not a pressure.

"We can see the flags in the city. It's the most important game in the past 30, 40 years so it is a big opportunity. We are not seeing this as pressure, we are seeing this as a privilege. We are hopeful to put our names and the club in history.

"We think we deserve that. We work hard every day and in this squad everyone likes each other and wants to be together. This counts for a lot.

"We know if we do this it's going to be massive for the city, for the project, for everyone. The most difficult step is obviously the first step, so we want to do this for everyone."

The midfielder then discussed the importance of a trophy, which has clearly been a huge ambition of everyone's at the club since he arrived following the takeover.

"Since I signed, I said I want to win something for the club and be part of the history. I take this one as my best opportunity. I cannot see another opportunity better than this one.

"It will be a very difficult game but we are on it, we are confident, we have a great squad and on our day we can beat any team in the world. We are very positive."
