Newcastle talent in trouble after 'ill-advised' night out - Issues public apology

From day one, Eddie Howe has been keen to instil a strong sense of professionalism and class in his Newcastle side.

And barring a few isolated incidents, it looks to have been a tremendous success, with Howe producing a regimented, professional squad.

But for one promising loan player who will have high hopes of breaking into a future Newcastle squad, he may not have done his chances any favour with some recent antics abroad.

Hernes issues apology 

Newcastle United loanee Travis Hernes is one of three players to issue a public apology over an ‘ill-advised’ nightclub visit in Denmark.

Hernes, alongside Aalborg BK teammates Andres Jasson and Isak Hansen-Aarøen, were spotted visiting the nightclub the day after the Danish side were beaten 0-4 at home against Viborg FF.

In a statement published on the club’s website, the trio said “It was a case of poor judgment on our part, because we should of course have gone home when the event at the restaurant ended, and we have also apologised to both the staff and our teammates, and we would also like to apologise to the fans and everyone else who has an association with AaB.”

”We can guarantee that it will not happen again, and now we just want to continue the hard work on the training pitch, so that together we can get some victories on the pitch.”

“Aalborg has welcomed us all well, and we feel at home here, and it means a lot to us to play for AaB, so we must also live up to the standards that the club expects of us.”

Hernes’ future at Aalborg

According to the Mail’s Craig Hope, it’s understood that all three of Hernes, Jasson and Hansen-Aarøen are set to face further discipline at the club.

Whilst no decision has yet to be publicly revealed, it remains to be seen if Hernes will feature when De røde play Lyngby next Friday. 

This will come as disheartening news to many, as despite no goals or assists in the Superliga, the 19-year-old is clearly a player with vast potential, as evidenced by his stint in the U-21s for his parent club.

Loan watch update

Elsewhere, it’s looking like mixed success for a batch of young Mags currently or recently brought back from loans across the continent.

Alex Murphy was an unused substitute as promotion-chasing Bolton got all three points at Wigan thanks to a stoppage time winner from Chris Forino-Joseph.

Serbian defender Miodrag Pivaš is currently embroiled in a relegation battle with Willem II, though being six points clear of 17th place RKC Waalwijk should be enough to keep the club in the Eredivise as things stand.

Garang Kuol, despite unsuccessful loan spells in the Netherlands and Scotland, looks to be thriving in the current U-21 setup, boasting nine goal contributions in his last 10 games - perhaps a sign that home may really be the launchpad a number of Newcastle’s young and developing talent need.
