Newcastle stars named in EA Sports FC TOTS nominees - but who’s missing?

After a strong Premier League campaign from the lads this season, many are in line to receive major plaudits and even awards.

One plaudit that might go down well with a number of the players however is being named in the EA Sports FC Team of the Season, to which two of our players have been named in the 40 man shortlist.

However, you could argue that one or two of our players have been wrongfully omitted from the list…

Isak, Bruno named among nominees

The pairing of Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes have been named as two of the forty nominees in the upcoming EA Sports FC Premier League Team of the Season.

Recognising the best-performers in the league over the course of the season, players receive a highly-rated in-game card as a reward for their achievements.

It could be a very first  TOTS card for Isak this year, after he narrowly missed out in last year’s game after he recorded 21 league goals to finish third in the race for the golden boot.

And Bruno will be looking to return to the EA FC limelight after he was awarded a TOTS card back in 2023, as he was instrumental in our eventual qualification for the Champions League.

Of the other thirty-eight nominees, the usual suspects of Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Erling Haaland are included, as well as former Mags Chris Wood and Matz Sels.

Murphy and Tonali snubbed?

Capped at forty players, there was always going to be some big omissions by EA in the shortlist.

But should fans of Jacob Murphy and Sandro Tonali feel particularly aggrieved at both players’ respective absence?

Only Isak and Salah have provided more goal contributions than Murphy since the start of December, whilst Tonali has been nothing short of world class since his return from suspension back in August.

Alongside Bruno and the similarly omitted Joelinton, Tonali is a core part of what’s inarguably the best midfield in the country right now.

And the maestro from Milano definitely deserves a mention alongside the likes of Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo in terms of nominations and end of season plaudits.
