Newcastle plan two new appointments with Darren Eales replacement line up
There may be a new appointment behind the scenes at Newcastle United this summer, with another major move on the cards alongside our search for a CEO to replace Darren Eales.
PIF’s ownership has seen a decent turnover of backroom staff come and go since they took charge of the club in October 2021. Amanda Staveley, Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Dan Ashworth have all had short-lived roles with the Mags.
As we look to build on what has been a dream season in league and cup, a new role has cropped up that may help us progress up to the next stage.
Club eyeing technical director
Newcastle United appear to be holding internal talks over the appointment of a technical director, according to The Mail’s Craig Hope.
It's thought the club are looking to shake up our off-field team, which currently includes sporting director Paul Mitchell and performance director James Bunce.
Currently, the club employ Darren Eales (CEO), Peter Silverstone (CCO), Brad Miller (COO) and Simon Capper (CFO) alongside Mitchell and Bunce, although plans are taking shape to replace Eales following his battle with blood cancer.
CEO wanted with Eales exit imminent
The club revealed last September that Darren Eales will leave the club as he recovers, leaving Toon chiefs in search of a new CEO.
A few names have been linked as our low-key hunt continues, although one name who won't be arriving is former Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, who will take charge at Spurs this summer.
Back in March, however, The Telegraph’s James Ducker reported that Manchester United’s COO Colette Roche was a contender to replace Eales.
Roche joined the Red Devils in 2018 after being the Managing Director of Manchester Airport and has played a hands on role in the running of Man Utd since Dan Ashworth’s departure.
