Elanga jets in for medical and £12m deal close as Newcastle prepare for busy day
It looks set to be another busy day at Newcastle United, from an incoming and outgoing perspective.
Starting with the signing, it was announced last night that we've finally struck a full agreement for Anthony Elanga, with some reporting a £55m package and David Ornstein claiming it will be £52m plus add-ons that are 'difficult' to reach.
Either way, the Nottingham Forest winger is due to sign and will take a major step towards making that happen today, with the player on his way to Tyneside from Portugal to undergo the first part of his medical.
Currently doing one-to-one fitness sessions in Faro, the 23-year-old is due to land in the North East this afternoon, as confirmed by The Mail's Craig Hope.
Then to Sean Longstaff and the likely outgoing that has picked up momentum over the last 24 hours.
After David Ornstein revealed last night that Leeds had offered £10m plus £2m in add-ons, Sky Sports report on Tuesday morning that an agreement between the two clubs is now 'close.'
Downie reports that this offer is likely to be accepted and would represent pure profit that boosts our summer budget, with it considered the right time to sell now Longstaff has slipped down the pecking order and has just 12 months left on his contract.
NUFCBlog revealed last week that the Geordie midfielder was seeking clarity over his future following interest from Leeds, Everton and an unnamed overseas club, and it seems all parties will soon get their wish as a permanent exit edges closer.
