Newcastle reach full agreement to sign Bayern-linked wonderkid - UK medical booked

Whilst the ongoing saga surrounding Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak takes centre stage, Newcastle United continues to remain active elsewhere in the transfer market.

With Anthony Elanga now settled in, and Antonio Cordero’s move from Malaga feeling like forever ago, it looks like the next name to be announced could be coming very soon.

And whilst many will expect it to be James Trafford, it’s in fact the result of a rumoured battle with two former European champions for a talented young winger tipped to be our latest 'project signing.'

Wonderkid picks Newcastle

Back in June it was reported that we were part of a three way transfer battle to sign Suwon Bluewings star Park Seung-soo.

It was believed that ourselves, Bayern Munich and Marseille were each vying for the 18-year-old’s signature, with identical fees being offered.

At the time, reports in East Asia stated that, whilst the teenager’s entourage were exploring a move to Munich, Park Seung-soo preferred a move to the Premier League.

And according to a new report, the youngster has now got his wish, with South Korean journalist Seol Ho-jung (via KNT Football) seemingly confirming that the winger is heading to Newcastle, with a deal now “finalised.”

Football Asian reports similar, stating Newcastle have 'reached a full agreement' and have pencilled him in for a medical in the UK, with Toon officials beating Marseille, Salzburg and FC Midtjylland to a deal.

That piece also states that the teenage winger will arrive for his medical before joining the squad for our trip to South Korea

What next for Park Seung-soo?

Right now, it looks like the club’s top priority in ensuring that the men’s and women’s teams are boasting as much quality and depth as possible ahead of the new campaign.

Which is why it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the likes of Park Seung-soo and the aforementioned Cordero quietly sent out on loan ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Cordero has already been linked with a move to Ajax in the Eredivisie, so it would be a welcome sight to see our new South Korean signing also loaned out to a big club on the continent, if he's deemed ready.

Of course, there’s also the chance he is immediately inserted into the U-21s and PL2 sides. With how Garang Kuol has been performing, Park Seung-soo could be his direct replacement if we choose to again loan out the Australian or have him on the periphery of the senior squad.
