Newcastle eye £40m Brazilian and England star as Sesko fears emerge - Report
This summer transfer window has been an absolute mess from start to finish and must show signs of life and serious ambition if we wish to salvage it over the next few weeks.
Sadly, it looks like the chaos will continue in our search for new strikers, as there has been a concerning update on Benjamin Sesko's future and another Premier League striker linked.
Confirming our exclusive that we brought to you at NUFCBlog back in early June, The Mail's Craig Hope has revealed that Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz is now being eyed up.
It's believed Newcastle have made an 'enquiry' about the Brazilian. No 'high-level talks' have taken place as of yet for the 24-year-old, with a £40m transfer fee mooted should we up our interest in the 24-year-old.
Newcastle need two strikers if Alexander Isak is to leave and the top target to replace him has been RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. But, according to Hope, sources on Tyneside now fear the Slovenian is 'likely' to end up at Man Utd instead.
This would be yet another major blow and source of 'huge frustration' at Newcastle, with Toon officials very keen to land the 22-year-old after long-term interest
Hope states that we are still pursuing Sesko and continue to work on a deal for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, but two other options could come back into focus should the Leipzig star end up at Old Trafford.
Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins is one, with the England international shortlisted by Newcastle, while Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson is another one to watch.
It is reported that the Senegalese striker is a few names down Newcastle's list, however. It would not surprise us if Wissa is deemed the ideal Wilson replacement, with Muniz in reserve, with Sesko, Watkins and Jackson the potential pecking order should Isak depart.
