Newcastle medical complete and signing No. 4 imminent - Welcome, Aaron Ramsdale!

Newcastle United are about to announce summer signing number three any minute now.

Young winger Antonio Cordero arrived in early June from Malaga, while Anthony Elanga completed a £55m move from Nottingham Forest earlier this month before 18-year-old Park Seung-Soo signed from Suwon.

Progress has been painfully slow in our pursuit of a striker, centre-back and midfielder, but a new goalkeeper is now in the building and all but over the dotted line in Aaron Ramsdale.

A loan-to-buy agreement was struck between Newcastle and Southampton on Tuesday night, with the 27-year-old stopper then arriving on Tyneside on Wednesday afternoon to undergo part one of his medical.

In the last few moments, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that his medical has now been completed with all the formalities in place as Newcastle prepare to officially announce his signing at some point today, you'd expect.

Ramsdale will arrive on a season-long loan deal - a £4m loan fee has been mooted - which includes an option to sign the former Arsenal stopper on a permanent deal at the end of the 2025/26 season.

This hands him the chance to impress Eddie Howe over the coming season, all in the build up to next year's World Cup, and push Nick Pope for the No 1 spot after Newcastle missed out on a deal for top target James Trafford, now at Man City.
