Newcastle close in on £35m signing with entourage en route to UK - Sky Sports

It looks like Newcastle United are finally closing in on the signing of a new striker.

As reported by Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, it’s believed Newcastle are now pushing to finalise a deal with Brentford for Yoane Wissa.

He reveals that Toon chiefs are hoping to strike a deal quickly, with the fee discussed around the £35m mark.

Along with ongoing talks between Newcastle and Brentford, Wissa’s representatives are also travelling to the UK today in a bid to push through a deal.

Wissa is thought to be desperate to join and is ready to head straight to the North East as soon as he’s given the green light that a deal has been agreed.

Newcastle had a £25m bid rejected for the DR Congo international in July, but it’s hoped a deal will now be agreed, with Brentford in talks to replace him with Bournemouth’s Dango Ouattara.

Wissa scored 19 times in the Premier League last season, with only Mo Salah scoring more non-penalty goals in the English top flight than the Bees forward across 2025/26.
