Newcastle release 37-word Alexander Isak statement as Liverpool announce signing
Alexander Isak has joined Liverpool.
A Premier League record fee was agreed between Newcastle and Liverpool in the early hours of Monday morning, with some sources claiming a £125m deal, while others report the fee to be £130m.
Either way, he is gone and he's ruined his legacy at the club, with his behaviour over the past month a huge shame given everything the club, Eddie Howe, his teammates and supporters have done for him.
Newcastle have released a statement reacting to his sale, saying very little but a lot at the same time in a 37-word message:
"Newcastle United can announce the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a significant British record transfer fee.
"The Sweden international joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022 and made 109 appearances in all competitions."
Brief to put it mildly, brutal and with no real thanks, which is exactly what he deserved, in the end, summing up how he's tarnished his time at the club.
A legacy ruined and his true colours shown.
Good riddance.
