Wolves suffer major blow before Newcastle trip - Confirmed in Friday's press conference

Newcastle were dealt a double blow this morning, as Eddie Howe revealed that Yoane Wissa and Jacob Ramsay would both miss tomorrow's clash with Wolves.

However, it looks like our opponents have got injury issues of their own, with Vitor Pereira sharing some bad news from a Wolves perspective in his Friday afternoon press conference just moments ago.

Pereira has confirmed that star striker and recent Newcastle United target, Jorgen Strand Larsen, will miss their trip to Tyneside this weekend.

The 6ft 4" striker has an achilles injury that saw him miss their 3-2 defeat to Everton two weeks ago, also forcing him to sit out of Norway's two World Cup qualifiers over the international break.

That issue has not gone away and is a "bit more serious" than Wolves first anticipated, with Pereira revealing that the forward is not yet back in training and set to miss out at St James' Park.

"We are without Larsen, the injury was a bit more serious and he's trying to come back.

"We want him back as soon as possible, but he's not training yet."

Strand Larsen scored 14 times for Wolves last season and was subject to serious interest from Newcastle before we struck a £55m deal to sign Yoane Wissa instead.

Newcastle saw bids worth £50m and £55m rejected for the 25-year-old, seeing Wolves stand firm after already losing Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri earlier in the window.

As a result, we could see deadline day signing Tolu Arokodare or Hwang Hee-chan start up top for the visitors tomorrow.
