Huge relief on Tino Livramento - Full extent of knee injury and recovery time revealed

A major update has arrived on the injury sustained to Tino Livramento after he was stretchered off in Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Arsenal.

The 22-year-old came off in tears, leaving many fearing the worst and wondering if the full-back had suffered another serious knee injury.

However, some positive news has arrived this afternoon from Sky Sports' Keith Downie, who reveals that Livramento has NOT suffered another ACL rupture and will instead be missing for more like six to eight weeks.

Posting on X on Wednesday afternoon, Downie said:

'Tino Livramento is facing 6-8 weeks out after injuring his knee ligaments against Arsenal on Sunday.

'The Newcastle full-back had further scans yesterday, with #NUFC seeking a second opinion on the impact injury with William Saliba. Injury was not sustained on landing.

'The good news is Livramento hasn’t ruptured his ACL again, but he’s expected to be out for a 6-8 week rehab period — meaning he’s set to miss around 10 matches.'

So, it's a knee ligament issue that will keep him out of our busy October schedule and much, if not all, of November, which is still a big blow.

However, the overriding feeling is one of relief that the injury is not season-ending and something that will keep him out of next year's World Cup with England.

This means Tino should be back for our busy December schedule, including the Tyne and Wear derby, and a few of our Champions League games against Bayer Leverkusen, PSV and PSG.

Discussing the injury just yesterday, Howe gave little away, saying: “We’re still awaiting feedback on the extent of his injury.

“I think I’m better off waiting before giving any indication on that, because I think that could be a mistake. So, yeah, let’s wait and see in the next couple of days.”
