Predicted Newcastle team vs Nottingham Forest - 2 changes from Arsenal defeat?

Newcastle United are back in Premier League action today, where Eddie Howe's Mags will take on Ange Postecoglou's Nottingham Forest.

We're looking to build on Wednesday night's 4-0 win in the Champions League away to Union SG, while Forest come into this after losing four and drawing two of Ange's first six games in charge.

Here's the side we think Howe will opt for when the official line-ups are released at 12:45pm...

Predicted line ups

(4-3-3)Pope – Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Burn – Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton – Elanga, Woltemade, Gordon.

I think we'll see two changes from last Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Arsenal and the same 11 who started our midweek win in Belgium.

That would mean Anthony Elanga keeping his place ahead of Jacob Murphy, with Kieran Trippier coming in following Tino Livramento's eight-week injury prognosis.

Lewis Hall is an option at left-back and would give us balance down the flanks. However, based on Howe's reluctance to drop Dan Burn, the strong partnership at centre-back forming between Malick Thiaw and Sven Botman, along with Hall still building back to feeling 100% again (Howe's words on Friday), I think it'll be the same back four.

The midfield three is likely to stay the same, with Jacob Ramsey one to watch from the bench, and I think Elanga's best display yet in midweek will hand him an opportunity to play against his former club in the league.

Nick Woltemade's fitness is building and I think we'll see another 70 minutes from the big German, with Anthony Gordon set to start down the left as he bids to build on his brace in Brussels.
