Willock starts, Schar returns! - 8 changes as Howe names new-look side vs Spurs

The team sheets are in at St James’ Park, where Eddie Howe’s Mags tackle Thomas Frank's Spurs in tonight's Carabao Cup last 16 clash.

After home wins over Fulham and Benfica over the past week, we're looking to make it three wins out of three in all competitions and defend our crown, but Spurs will be a tough nut to crack, sitting third in the league and being unbeaten away from home this season after a 3-0 win at Everton last Sunday.

Here is how the two sides line up ahead of tonight’s 8pm kick-off…

Confirmed line-ups

Newcastle XI: Ramsdale - Krafth, Thiaw, Schar, Burn (c) - Ramsey, Tonali, Willock - Elanga, Woltemade, Barnes.

Subs: Pope, Trippier, Botman, Joelinton, Guimaraes, Miley, Gordon, Murphy, Osula.

Spurs XI: Kinsky - Porro, Danso, Paulinha, Spencer - Bergvall, Sarr, Bentancur - Johnson, Richarlison, Simons.

Howe has made EIGHT changes from Saturday's 2-1 win over Fulham, seeing Ramsdale, Krafth, Schar, Tonali, Ramsey, Willock, Barnes and Elanga come into the side.

With that, the seven who drop out are Pope, Trippier, Botman, Miley, Bruno, Joelinton, Gordon and Murphy, giving all a partial rest ahead of Sunday's league trip to West Ham.

As expected, Lewis Hall misses out once again, with Tino Livramento and Yoane Wissa also absent as they near a return from knee issues.

For Spurs, Van de Ven drops to the bench along with Kudus and Muani, while Vicario sits this one out, seeing Kinsky start in goal.

A rare chance for Willock and Ramsdale to impress, Krafth's second start of the season, and a massive opportunity for the likes of Ramsey, Barnes and Elanga to shine. Howay the lads!
