Official update on Lewis Hall injury scare after Newcastle's 3-1 win at Burnley

Lewis Hall has arguably been our best player since his return from injury, and as our only fit senior left back option right now, any sort of injury to the youngster will be a hammer blow to Eddie Howe.

And after another energetic performance in last night's 3-1 win over Burnley, the boss has offered an update on his fitness after injuring his ankle during the match.

Hall twisted his ankle in the first half and looked set to be replaced by Alex Murphy before the hour mark, only to soldier on impressively and see out the full 90 minutes.

Discussing his latest knock after the game, Howe seemed hopeful that it's a minor issue:

“I think he just twisted his ankle in that first half when he went down the first time.

"It was obviously bothering him in the second half, but he was able to get through it. And I'm really pleased that he did.

“We needed him too. Fingers crossed there's no big injury there.”

With all of our issues at full-back right now, it's a relief that Hall looks to have avoided any lasting  damage.

Tino Livramento is still absent with a knee issue, Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth haven't featured in December and Dan Burn is also missing, meaning Hall and Lewis Miley have been regulars at full-back over the festive period.

The England talent had surgery on his foot earlier in the year and a hamstring issue that sidelined him for a big chunk of this season, so it's vital we keep him fit and healthy heading into 2026.
