Awful news on Wednesday night - Kevin Keegan statement on cancer diagnosis

Some incredibly sad news tonight to share tonight, as Kevin Keegan has been diagnosed with cancer.

The former Newcastle United player and manager was admitted to hospital recently and, following investigations on abdominal symptoms, the 74-year-old has been diagnosed with cancer.

A statement has been released by the Keegan family on Wednesday night, stating the following:

"Kevin Keegan was recently admitted to hospital for further evaluation of ongoing abdominal symptoms. These investigations have revealed a diagnosis of cancer, for which Kevin will undergo treatment.

"Kevin is grateful to the medical team for their intervention and ongoing care.

"During this difficult time, the family are requesting privacy, and will be making no further comment."

Awful news and our thoughts go out to Kevin and his family at this difficult time.
