"No truth in that" - Howe reveals double injury boost and rejects transfer link

Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media today, looking ahead to our clash with PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

On the injury front, there is some good news to share regarding two previously injured Mags who took a big steps towards returning to action today.

Dan Burn is making "really good progress", returning to first-team training for the first time on Tuesday morning alongside Will Osula, but tomorrow's game will come too soon for both.

"Dan is making really good progress. He won't make tomorrow, it's too early.

"Same with Will Osula, today was their first day with the team but they're hopefully not too far away."

As we know, Fabian Schar (ankle) and Tino Livramento (hamstring) are longer-term absentees, while Emil Krafth and Jamaal Lascelles will miss out again.

On the transfer front, Lee Ryder asked Howe about reports today suggesting Newcastle are all set to approach Vasco de Gama over a Brazilian forward Rayan Vitor.

The boss' response was emphatic, however, stating "there is no truth in that" in response to The Chronicle's chief writer.

Previous reports have suggested that we may be priced out of a move for the 19-year-old, and the arrival of another striker is unlikely to be a top priority with Nick Woltemade, Yoane Wissa and a fit-again Osula all on our books.
