Bruno Guimaraes return date made public as ESPN Brasil release injury update

The 2026 World Cup is the stage for Bruno Guimaraes to establish himself as one of Brazil’s biggest stars, right when they need one the most.

As one of Carlo Ancelotti’s most dependable players, Bruno will have to be at his best this summer if the Selecao are to win their first World Cup since 2002, just as he is to our overall success.

But his latest injury is a huge blow to Brazil just as much as it is to us, as he is set to miss the March international break: the final round of friendlies before the World Cup starts.

And now Bruno is back in his homeland to recuperate, a new report has given some insight on his recovery and when he's hoping to be back in action.

According to ESPN Brasil, Bruno Guimaraes has met with Carlo Ancelotti and Brazil staff to outline the current action plan surrounding his return from injury.

Having spent time using the facilities at Atletico Mineiro, our captain is eager to make himself available to play as soon as possible, and is now employing the use of Botafogo's facilities for the second phase of his treatment and recovery.

It's reported that Bruno is 'accelerating his recovery plan' by staying in Brazil, with the iPaper's Mark Douglas also stating that the 28-year-old is on track for an 'early April' return date.

Having met with Ancelotti, ESPN insist that Bruno's place in Brazil's World Cup squad is not understood to be under any jeopardy, with the Toon captain desperate to return in good time to help club and country over the coming months.

Bruno set to miss huge games for Newcastle

Whilst Bruno is making good progress, this revelation means Bruno is still set to miss at least another five weeks of action.

Not only has Bruno already missed plenty of big games, he will miss both legs of our Champions League last 16 clash and our FA Cup clash with Man City.

Assuming that the game against Crystal Palace on the 11th of April is the earliest possible date for Bruno to return to Tyneside, this means that he will miss the four league games against Everton, Manchester United, Chelsea and Sunderland - many of which are frankly must-win games if we're to have any hope of a top five finish.
