4 changes? - Predicted Newcastle team to face Chelsea tonight
A big week awaits Newcastle United, with tonight's Premier League clash at Chelsea followed by a Champions League decider at Barcelona and next Sunday's Tyne and Wear derby at St James' Park.
The first test sees us take on Liam Rosenior's Chelsea, who come into this game after a 5-2 defeat away to PSG on Wednesday night, just 24 hours after our 1-1 draw with Barcelona.
As we edge closer to kick-off at 5.30pm, here is the side we're backing Eddie Howe to go with at Stamford Bridge...
Predicted XI
(4-3-3): Ramsdale – Livramento, Thiaw, Burn, Hall - Ramsey, Tonali, Joelinton - Murphy, Woltemade, Gordon.
OUT: Trippier, Elanga, Barnes, Osula.
IN: Livramento, Murphy, Gordon, Woltemade.
In defence, a back five is possible and has worked well away from home against other 'big six' sides, but I think the most likely change is Livramento in for Trippier, whose experience may be key in Barcelona next week.
I wouldn't be surprised if Willock came into the side, but with Ramsey and Joelinton getting a full and partial rest against Man City last weekend, we could well see the same midfield three, with Tonali feeling essential as the only natural No.6 without the injured Bruno and Miley.
In attack, a few changes could be on the cards to freshen things up. Rests for Barnes and Elanga, Gordon back on the wing and Woltemade up top, in place of Osula. If Barnes is OK to go again, I'd expect to see Gordon in the No.9 role again.
