Fabrizio Romano on Newcastle sales and Anthony Gordon's future
The Newcastle United rumour mill is spooling up with a lot of talk around Anthony Gordon dominating the headlines today.
These things seem to operate in cycles around Newcastle. We have a spell of incessant rumours around one player leaving the club, and just as we're getting sick to the back teeth of that, they switch it up for another player.
We have been through the Tino Livramento spell, and that made way for Sandro Tonali, and now it seems like the talk around the Italian is dying down this week, so we can panic about Anthony Gordon for a while.
Rumours around a move to Bayern Munich started at the back end of last week, which were today backed up by Sky Sports Germany.
Fabrizio Romano on potential sales
Now Fabrizio Romano has added an extra layer of uncertainty around the winger's Newcastle future.
The Italian transfer guru spoke about Gordon on his YouTube channel, suggesting Newcastle could sell the England star, but does leave himself plenty of room to be wrong.
"According to my info, there is a possibility Newcastle sell one or two top players in the summer transfer window. It’s about Financial Fair Play, it’s about the cost of the squad, so they have to consider exits; it could be one, could be two, based on opportunities, proposals, and what players want to do.“Anthony Gordon has chances to leave Newcastle in the summer transfer window. There is a lot of interest also in Sandro Tonali, and let’s see what happens with Bruno Guimaraes.
"I’m not saying that Newcastle are going to sell all these players, that’s not the case. Newcastle will try to keep as many as possible.
“But, at the moment, there is a possibility Anthony Gordon could be on his way out of Newcastle in case of a big proposal.”
Like Sky Sports Germany, the overarching message is that Newcastle would prefer to keep him, but this feels like yet another summer saga in waiting given our apparent need to sell without Champions League football.

Anthony Gordon to be priced out?
We're sticking by our belief that Gordon will not move to Germany ahead of next season, as they simply will not be able to afford our asking price.
However, we're not so confident that he won't move to another Premier League club, and there does appear to be interest from a couple of big hitters.
We can take solace in the fact that every report that has mentioned Gordon leaving has reiterated that Newcastle want to keep hold of him, so while we expect Tino Livramento and Sandro Tonali to be more likely to leave than stay, we can probably expect Gordon to stick around unless a ridiculous offer comes in.
We're still not buying into the idea that Bruno Guimaraes could leave in the summer. We aren't ready to even entertain that as a possibility.
