Hall returns, Joelinton captain, Toure starts - Confirmed Newcastle XI vs Everton
The last “away” fixture of Newcastle’s preseason tour heads to Scotland, as we face Everton.
It’s just the second pre-season game for Jaissle, so expected changes have come in. Crucially, it looks like a slight formation tweak this time as the team on paper looks to be in a 4-4-2. Though, with Wissa having played a deeper role for his national team, it could be the same 4-2-3-1 we saw in Spain.
The game is also the first outing of the new pink third kit. Here’s how the two sides line up at Murrayfield.

In his second game in charge, Jaissle has made a few changes already. Lewis Hall, as expected, returns to the starting 11, with the rest of the backline remaining the same.
The midfield gets a slight tweak, as Ramsey is replaced by Joelinton, who also takes on the captain's armband for the game.
The attack also gets a change, with Osula and Wissa starting, while Toure comes in from the start to replace Barnes.
Our thoughts
It’s an interesting change from the last game. Joelinton is a notable change, replacing Ramsey, though it could be a game-time thing more than anything. It is, however, good to see Joelinton with the captain's armband as one of the longest-serving players at the club.
Toure and Elanga starting is good, as they are the wingers that offer the most Jaissle way of playing. In attack, Wissa and Osula are probably the right call, considering Woltemade played most of the game at the weekend. With Neave and Nick on the bench, it will be interesting to see if that pair come on together.
The bench is about as expected, though Ewen remains a no-show, likely the same back injury that kept him out at the weekend.
