Lewis Hall misses England training with new injury niggle

Lewis Hall misses England training with new injury niggle

Newcastle United have been handed another injury concern, with Lewis Hall missing England training on Wednesday due to a minor injury issue.

The left-back had been called up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, but there are now questions over his availability for the Three Lions’ upcoming Nations League fixtures.

Lewis Hall misses England training

Reporting from St George’s Park, Henry Winter reveals that Lewis Hall was absent from England training on Wednesday due to a new injury ‘niggle’, with the Newcastle defender the only senior player missing from the session.

Hall had trained with the rest of the England squad on Tuesday, but sat out Wednesday’s session as a precaution. It’s thought to be a minor issue, with the 21-year-old expected to make a quick turnaround.

That said, his absence will inevitably raise a few concerns, particularly given the number of injury problems we have already suffered during the opening weeks of the season.

Hall had only recently been recalled to the England squad after his World Cup snub and was in contention to feature during a busy international window. England begin their Nations League campaign against Spain at Wembley on Saturday, before facing Czechia and Croatia during the extended break.

Newcastle can’t afford another injury

This is the last thing we want to hear after an already difficult start to the season on the injury front, although it doesn’t appear to be anything serious.

Matthias Jaissle was without NINE senior players for Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Hull, including Dan Burn, Will Osula, Joelinton, Nico Gonzalez, Jacob Ramsey, Amar Dedic, Ewen Jaouen, Anthony Elanga and Tino Livramento.

Livramento had also been included in the latest England squad but was forced to withdraw after suffering an injury in training, leaving Hall as Newcastle’s only remaining senior representative with the Three Lions.

The good news is that everything being reported so far points towards Hall’s absence being precautionary rather than a significant injury, just days after his goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Hull.

Hopefully, this really is nothing more than a minor niggle and Hall is back in full training with England sooner rather than later.
