Lewis Miley signs! - Great news from Newcastle United on Bank Holiday Monday

A bit of metaphorical sunshine to go along with your actual Bank Holiday sunshine as Newcastle United announce huge contract news.

After the nightmare ending to a horrendous season on Sunday, we have been given some good news on this sunny Bank Holiday Monday as Lewis Miley has signed a new long-term deal with the club.

The 19-year-old has become a key player for Newcastle under Eddie Howe after graduating through the academy.

Miley has had his injury problems, but when he has been on the pitch, he has been a phenomenal addition to the team, and often it's so easy to forget he's so young when you watch him in action.

Like Elliot Anderson, Miley has been hailed as the future of the club, but unlike Anderson, it looks like the Magpies are going to be able to keep hold of Miley.

PSR forced Newcastle's hand into selling Elliot Anderson, and the club has been determined to never be in that position again and by tying down Miley to a new deal, they've got a solid foundation in place.

The club announced via X and its official website that Miley has signed a new deal through 2032, with the youngster expressing his delight at penning a new deal.

"I'm really pleased to sign this new contract and commit my future here. It's a dream to be representing Newcastle United, so this is a proud moment for me.

"I'm really grateful to everybody who has played a part in helping me get to where I am today, especially the support of my family and the trust that the club has put in me from such a young age.

"It's been an amazing journey so far and I'm so excited for what's ahead. I'm now working hard every day to get back on the pitch even stronger next season and start to repay the faith that has been shown in me."

Lewis Miley is the exact player Newcastle should be looking to build the team around, given his age, his talent and the potential he's still not reached.
