Lewis Miley's season is over after picking up fibula injury
Newcastle United have long since welcomed back Lewis Miley to the starting lineup after the muscle injury he picked up against PSG.
The 19-year-old was originally said to have a dead leg after the Champions League clash with the current holders, but as the academy graduate missed more and more games, it became apparent that it was something far worse.
We never really got any full story on the injury other than it being a muscle problem, but the teenager recently made his return to the team, taking over at right-back for Kieran Trippier and the injured Tino Livramento.
Lewis Miley has been one of Newcastle's more consistent performers this season, when he's been available, so it was a huge boost to have him back for the run-in.
Lewis Miley has fractured his leg in training
Unfortunately, the club today confirmed via the official site that Miley's season is over after picking up an injury in training today.
Miley has fractured his fibula on his right leg and will travel to see a specialist on Wednesday.
It's expected that he will be back for pre-season preparations, but it's far from great news for anyone.
Miley's injury record is a worry
Miley really hasn't had much luck with injuries since breaking into the first team, having missed a chunk of time out with a back problem which Eddie Howe was very careful not to aggravate by rushing him back too early.
We really hope this doesn't become a trend throughout his career because he's such a talented player with a practically limitless ceiling. If he can stay fit and continue to develop at the rate he is, he could become world-class. We truly believe that.
Why is it always the good ones that are held together with hopes and dreams?
We wish Miley a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back in action next season.
