Newcastle eyeing Bodø/Glimt wonderkid Mikkel Bro Hansen - Report
Newcastle United are looking at young Danish prodigy Mikkel Bro Hansen as a potential signing.
Ross Wilson's mission to find young stars has apparently landed his scouting team in Denmark, according to a new report.
Although only 17 years old, Bodø/Glimt‘a Mikkel Bro Hansen is attracting a lot of interest from around Europe, and Newcastle is thought to be one of the clubs keen on the young striker.
Hansen has already got himself on the score sheet at the Under 17s Euros, scoring a brace in a 2-1 win over Montenegro.
Danish outlet Tipsbladet claims that Newcastle is one of several clubs that had scouts in attendance watching the young striker in action.
Mikkel Bro Hansen is a goal machine
In addition to his superb start in the Euros, the youngster has also racked up seven goals and three assists in 12 first-team appearances for Bodø/Glimt.
Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea, Juventus and Ajax are all thought to be keen on Hansen, and while the Premier League may hold the most appeal, English sides are at a slight disadvantage as they will have to wait until Hansen turns 18 before he can join properly.
That may actually be preferred by Bodø/Glimt, however, as it means they'd get to keep hold of him for at least another half a season.
Too soon to say how much is in this rumour
It looks like there could be quite a battle for the young lad's signature, especially given his goals record with Bodø/Glimt, along with his 12 goals in 14 appearances for Denmark Under 17s - and those appearances weren't all 90-minute outings either.
Newcastle already has a young Danish striker who is starting to come good in Will Osula. He could be useful in persuading Hansen to move to Tyneside.
It's probably far too early to get our hopes up on this one yet, but it's a name to keep an eye on over the summer, and one worth looking out for as the Under-17s Euros continue.
Denmark is in action again today against France, so we'll see if Hansen adds to his impressive tally again.
