Newcastle facing Brighton battle for Lamine Camara - Report
Lamine Camara is a player who has been linked with Newcastle United long before the transfer window opened.
The Monaco midfielder was reported as being one of Newcastle's priority summer targets, but as yet, no move has been made for the 22-year-old.
After making such a bright start this summer, signing Ewen Jaouen and coming within a whisker of signing Victor Munoz, things have gone very quiet on the incomings front for Newcastle.
There's plenty of talk of outgoings, and when incomings are mentioned, it's not long before we find out about some strong competition set to challenge Newcastle for the player's signature.
Brighton joins the race for Lamine Camara
Even though things have gone quiet on Camara and Newcastle, there's been nothing to suggest that Newcastle have cooled their interest.
However, The Telegraph's Mike McGrath is now reporting that Brighton and Hove Albion are keen on the Senegal star, who is valued at around £35 million.
McGrath mentions 'other Premier League clubs' are interested, but in his post on X, he doesn't mention any by name.
Newcastle have already lost one player to Brighton this summer
Brighton will provide solid competition for Camara's signature if Newcastle is interested. It's one of those where it feels hard to call which way the player will go.
They already beat us to the signing of Zadok Yohanna this summer, and they'll no doubt feel they can convince Lamine Camara to move to the South Coast rather than the North East.
We'll just have to see who moves first and whether Newcastle joins the race at all. It could be a case of one of those players endlessly linked, but we were never really interested in.
That's how we're going to view it when we sit back and let Brighton snap him up, anyway.
