Newcastle get West Brom! - Full Carabao Cup draw and details
The draw for the second round of the Carabao Cup has just taken place, live on Sky Sports before tonight's first round action wrapped up.
Newcastle were ball number 13, and we’ve been drawn against West Brom, who will travel to St James' Park. The Championship side begin their league matches this weekend against Norwich, before facing Burnley ahead of a trip to Newcastle.
The tie is set to be played in the week commencing 24th of August, slotting in after our home game with Liverpool and before our away fixtures with Spurs. Overall, less than ideal.

A home cup tie
The two sides last played each other in 2021, and actually, our recent history record is very poor. We drew away from home 0-0 but lost the home fixture 2-1. We also played them in the 2020 FA Cup, losing away from home 2-3.
Our historic rivalry is actually even, with both sides having won 49 times, and an incredible 35 draws between the two sides.
A lot has changed since 2021, however, and Newcastle will be very much the favourites. The game will give us a good chance to see how Jaissle handles cup matches.
Eddie Howe always went with a strong side, the trouble for Jaissle is this game will come between two huge Premier League fixtures.
