Newcastle preparing new bid for Saïd El Mala - Report
Newcastle United have already been knocked back by the agent of Saïd El Mala, who also happens to be his mother.
The Magpies have been keeping track of the 19-year-old winger for a while and even went as far as making contact over a potential move in the summer.
At the time, a move to Newcastle was rejected in favour of Brighton, but it seems that the situation may still be fluid.
According to German outlet Sport Bild, the German's future is still undecided, although it does sound like he will be heading to the Premier League.
Brentford lead El Mala race - but Newcastle still in the mix
Brighton remain in the frame for the FC Köln winger, but now it's reportedly Brentford who lead the race as they are willing to offer €50 million (£43 million) for his services.
However, the report goes on to suggest that Newcastle feel that they still have a chance in the race for El Mala despite the previous rejection.
Apparently, Saïd El Mala and his mother have changed their minds several times in recent weeks over what would be the best next move, and that's given Newcastle some encouragement.
Lack of European football a concern?
Newcastle clearly have a strong interest in left-sided attacker, and with Anthony Gordon likely to be leaving, we're sure El Mala could be convinced of the fact that he'd be given plenty of first-team opportunities were he to choose Newcastle.
Both Brighton and Brentford are in with a shout of nabbing European football next season, which could give them the edge over Newcastle when it comes to talks with the player's camp.
Not having European football next season may serious3ly hamper our transfer plans in the summer, not just because it reduces the budget, but because the players we're targeting will also be on the radar of clubs competing in Europe.
Hopefully, there are plenty of players willing to wait and join this project heading into 2026/27. Whether Said El Mala will be one of them, we're not so sure.
