Newcastle set for pink kit - but £25m Sela deal won't be staying
Details have emerged on the proposed third kit for Newcastle United next season as the club still searches for a front-of-shirt sponsor.
Sela has been a fantastic partner for Newcastle United since they agreed to be the front-of-shirt sponsor three years ago.
The Saudi-based events company have done some quality initiatives with the club, including an amazing done show over St James' Park to welcome the club back to the Champions League, a holographic light show on the River Tyne, and the magnificent 'Unsilence The Crowd' initiative that saw deaf fans given shirts with haptics inside that allowed them to feel the atmosphere inside the ground.
Granted, we've not really seen a big move from Sela for a while, but they've still been there in the background.
Sela's time as Newcastle's main sponsor is coming to an end after this season, although it's expected that they will remain as a partner in some capacity.
No Sela on the shirts next season
However, the search for a new shirt sponsor continues, according to The Daily Mail, who make it very clear that Sela will not be the front-of-shirt sponsor next season.
The Magpies could even start the season with no sponsor adorning their new kits like Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have done in the past.
On the subject of kits, while fans still debate where the new home kit ranks on the list of worst ever home kit designs, Craig Hope also revealed on Thursday that Newcastle are going with a pink kit for the third kit option this season. The players have already done the promo shoots with the pink kit, but as yet there are no images online of exactly what the kit will look like.
Newcastle had a pink kit this season
This season saw the goalkeepers wearing pink as part of the third kit; we expect it will look somewhat similar to that. In fact, the mockup by Footy Headlines probably isn't too far away from what it will be.
For us, though, the real star of next season is going to be the dark blue away kit, which has been circulating online. Apparently, the image isn't exactly what the kit will look like, but it is close.
Where the leaked images show a brick-like motif in the shirt, it could be something different. We'll see soon enough, but that blue with the white accents looks incredible.
