Matthias Jaissle is on the brink of becoming Newcastle United's new manager on an initial four-year contract.

As revealed by Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, the former RB Salzburg boss has agreed to sign on Tyneside until 2030, with personal terms all agreed in what's now being described as a 'done deal.'

Newcastle are set to trigger his release clause at Al-Ahli, informing the Saudi side that they wish to proceed in a deal worth over £8.5m in compensation, as Ben Jacobs reports.
