Newcastle United confirm Aidan Harris loan move to Hebburn Town
Newcastle United have confirmed that Aidan Harris has joined Hebburn Town on a short-term loan, with the young goalkeeper heading to National League North.
The 19-year-old already has senior experience from his spell at Coleraine, where he made 22 appearances and kept eight clean sheets during the first half of the 2025/26 season.
Harris said on joining Hebburn:
"Can't wait to get started with the club, play some games and hopefully make a difference with the team. First game Saturday looking forward to it and seeing all the Hebburn fans"
Harris won Newcastle's Wor Jackie Award in 2024 and was first named in a senior matchday squad for our Champions League trip to AC Milan at the San Siro.
Hebburn boss surprised Newcastle agreed
According to Mark Carruthers of the Shields Gazette, Hebburn manager Daniel Moore expected Newcastle to turn down his approach and was surprised to get the chance to bring Harris in.
Hebburn goalkeeping coach Carl Morris added:
"He's a young goalkeeper with a lot of potential, and this is a great opportunity for him to come in, develop further and gain valuable experience at this level."
Carruthers says Harris has been training alongside Newcastle's first-team goalkeepers for a number of months. He also highlights Hebburn's work with young loanees, including Sunderland goalkeeper Isaac Allan, as a reason to be positive about the move.
A Newcastle prospect close to home
The sixth tier is an interesting next step after his time at Coleraine, but I can see the sense in it. Harris gets another chance to establish himself in senior football, close to Newcastle and with coaches who have experience of helping academy players make that transition.
This is a particularly nice move for me as I live in Hebburn and get to most of the games. I'll be keeping a close eye on him, and hopefully we see more Newcastle youngsters sent over to Hebburn in the future because it's a fantastic club with a healthy, positive atmosphere and it's very much on the up.
