Nicolas Jackson back on Newcastle’s radar after Bayern loan - Report
Bayern Munich have confirmed they will not make Nicolas Jackson's loan from Chelsea a permanent one, putting Newcastle United on alert.
After spending the best part of £125 million in the summer to give a new look to its attack, Newcastle United have found goals difficult to come by this season, particularly from its strikers.
Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade haven't been the answer to Newcastle's goal-scoring problems after selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool in teh summer.
They may come good next season after some time on the training pitch over a pre-season, but it's not a risk that the club is willing to take, and another striker will be signed ahead of the next campaign.
Nicolas Jackson is on the market in the summer
Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson was heavily linked with Newcastle last year before securing a loan move to Bayern Munich, and talkSPORT, report that he’s back on our radar heading into the summer.
The 24-year-old has been a backup for free-scoring Harry Kane and, as such, hasn't met the threshold to trigger their obligation to buy. Bayern Munich have since confirmed that the Senegalese forward will return to Chelsea in the summer.
Chelsea will be looking to find a permanent new home for the striker, and Newcastle are reportedly keen, particularly after Jackson rediscovered his form in Germany, having scored five goals and provided two assists in his last seven games for the Bundesliga champions.
We weren't keen last year
Jackson was practically a meme in the Premier League for Chelsea, missing some really easy chances for teh Blues, and when Newcastle were linked with him last summer, we couldn't believe what we were reading.
However, there's clearly a good player in there; it just didn't click for him at Stamford Bridge. He seems to have got his confidence back after a season in Germany, and if Newcastle can negotiate a sensible fee, Jackson may not be such a bad move.
Nicolas Jackson is young enough that he has still got plenty of learning and growing to do, but old enough and experienced enough that he should be able to hit the ground running.
Rumour Rating: 7/10 - There's a historical interest there for Jackson. Chelsea want to move him on. There's a deal to be done. But how high on Newcastle's list is he?
