Opposition Opinion: Fulham vs Newcastle - "I'd take Anthony Elanga"
Drew Heatley from Fulhamish is backing the hosts to beat Newcastle 1-0 on Saturday, but his advice for us on Matthias Jaissle is to hold our nerve.
For this week's Opposition Opinion, we discuss two clubs adjusting to a summer of change ahead of our trip to Craven Cottage. There's also a verdict on Alvaro Arbeloa, praise for Josh King and a request for Anthony Elanga...
How would you sum up Fulham's season so far, and what would count as a successful campaign?
A work in progress! With so much change over the summer, 17th and above must be considered a success. It gives us a top-flight platform to build on next season.
What's changed under Arbeloa, and are you convinced he's the right man?
Erm – everything! Our style of play has changed (or evolved) at least three times this term alone. I've seen more than enough to believe AA is the right man, but he's yet to convince large swathes of the fanbase.
Who's been your standout player, and who's your unsung hero?
Standout player is Josh King. Now in the England squad, he is at the heart of everything good this Fulham team does. Unsung hero would probably be Alex Iwobi; he continues to deliver wherever he's asked to play. A case can also be made for Calvin Bassey. He's stepped into the role of on-field captain effortlessly and performs week in, week out.
What do you make of Newcastle under Jaissle? Do we need time, or would you be worried?
I feel like you're in the same position as we are. Left to make drastic changes, quickly and late on. This term was always going to be one of transition. Hold your nerve I'd say.
How will Fulham approach Saturday's game, and where could each side hurt the other?
We have to start on the front foot and get an early goal. But it's a battle of the midfield isn't it? Ours needs to stifle yours if we're to take anything.
Which Newcastle player would you take for Fulham, and why?
We've missed Harry Wilson a lot this term, so I'd take Anthony Elanga if it were a possibility!
Would you take a point, or are you expecting a win? What's your score prediction?
I'm hoping for a win at home against a side within touching distance. You've got to win those home games if you're to succeed at this level. We're more resolute at the back than we were three games in, sometimes to the detriment of our attack. I'll go 1-0.
The midfield battle is one we'll have to get right with Joelinton ruled out and Jacob Ramsey suspended. We need to give Fulham more to worry about than we managed against Everton. As for Anthony Elanga, I'll drive him down there.
