Matthias Jaissle has only spent a few days in Newcastle since he signed almost a week ago. During his unveiling press conference on Tuesday, he shared his experience.
Arriving back in Newcastle early on Sunday, Matthias Jaissle wasted no time getting familiar with his new home. Having signed last week, Jaissle went straight into the training camp in Spain, having no time to visit Newcastle or SJP.
There was understandably a lot that the press wanted to know from Jaissle. But one key topic that came up was the stadiu and the city of Newcastle, alongside many others.

Speaking at his unveiling, Matthias Jaissle was full of praise for the city. He revealed that the team had two days off after arriving back from Spain, which gave him and his team a chance to look around the city.
“I have my spies following social media, so they gave me a hint that there was a special song already created.
"The lads had two days off, so I used the chance to get to know the training ground and settle in the city.
"Today was the first training session in Newcastle. I'm really excited. I’m also really happy to be “home” in Newcastle, and the focus now is only on the day-to-day basis”
The pull of the club was there from the very first phone call. Jaissle didn't have to think twice when Newcastle came knocking.
“I received a call at the end of July when it was clear most likely Eddie would quit.
"First of all a club reaching out from the Premier League but also a club like Newcastle, their fanbase, their DNA, there was no doubts or question marks. I had a big smile."
St James' Park will need to be a fortress if Newcastle United are to have a good season, and Jaissle is well aware of that fact.
"First of all, I am looking forward to the weekend and finally being here. I had a tour two days ago. It is an amazing stadium. I can't wait to see it full.
"The first time me and my assistant went on the pitch at SJP, we had a big smile. Like I have right now. Goosebumps. Just really special. The guys here who were leading the tour were telling me how it is when the crowd is in there.
"When we play, hopefully we will play the way they want to see us. Intense, vertical, front foot, and aggressive. We want to create that synergy between the fans and the team."
Jaissle's nod to a Kevin Keegan
It wouldn't be a proper Newcastle unveiling without a Kevin Keegan mention, and Jaissle already knows the weight the name carries. With Liverpool up early in the season, he hinted something is being cooked up.
"I knew how much impact he had on the club and how much of a legend he is.
"There will be a special occasion against Liverpool and there will be some special things planned which will be special, for sure.
"We have some special things planned and I am aware of his legacy."
Let's make St James' Park a fortress again
We all know that St James’ Park is a nightmare for clubs to play at, and that needs to return for the new season. At its best, SJP is one of the best atmospheres in Europe, and it needs to be.
Last season the home form dropped off, and it felt like the team let its guard down. One constant of the Howe era was his ability to stun top sides at SJP, but that sting in our tail had long fallen out.
Now, under Jaissle, the stadium and the team can deliver once again
