WATCH: Dan Burn returns to Newcastle sporting new haircut after extended break

Dan Burn has been welcomed back to Newcastle United's training ground, now known as The KNOX.

With Dan Burn being Newcastle’s last player to feature at the World Cup with England, he’s the last to arrive for training. He spent most of his post-World Cup time in the USA, and while he spent time at the training ground last week, this is the first time he’s met up with the squad.

Players returning have been a common theme in pre-season; the last players to get similar treatment were German pair Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw.

Dan Burn sports new haircut on return

Burn returned sporting a new hairstyle, which Osula and Nick Woltemade were quick to point out. Though, Burn puts that down to his lack of chance to get a trim, rather than the senior defender bringing a new style for the 26/27 season.

Burn also met up with new boy Lukáš Horníček and manager Matthias Jaissle. With many expecting Burn to be part of the new senior leadership group, it’s good to see him back with the boys.

There is really only one player we’ve not seen this pre-season, and that’s Tino Liveramento. Injured while away with England, the right back is set for a key season under the new manager. No return date is known, though rumours are he’s at least back in solo training.

An interesting season for Burn

Dan Burn has become a cult hero at Newcastle United, but also for England fans after his heroics for England, especially against Mexico.

faces the prospect of impressing a new manager who, on paper, doesn't suit his style.

Burn was a popular player under Eddie Howe, who famously liked to pick players he trusted. Jaissle is an unknown here. The manager likes to play with a higher line, relying on pace from his defenders. With Burn playing at centre back and left back, he’ll struggle, in theory.

But with only four senior central defenders at the club, Jaissle will need to get a tune out of Dan Burn somehow.
