WATCH: Newcastle’s Michael Mills scores again in late win for England U18s

Michael Mills has done it again for England Under-18s, with the Newcastle United youngster scoring the winner in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Egypt in the UEFA Friendship Cup.

The 17-year-old winger had already found the net in England’s 3-2 win over Colombia earlier in the week, and has now made it two goals in two games in Switzerland.

Mills makes it two in two to seal England win

England took the lead through Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, but Egypt levelled with 11 minutes remaining to set up a nervy finish.

However, Mills was introduced from the bench and didn’t take long to make his mark, netting in the 82nd minute. 

The Newcastle youngster raced clear after being played through by Jashayde Greenwood before calmly sliding the ball underneath the goalkeeper to restore England’s lead and seal a 2-1 victory. Watch it below: 

It means Mills now has two goals in his opening two games of the UEFA Friendship Cup, having also scored England’s opener in the 3-2 victory over Colombia on Thursday.

Another big moment for our Academy talent 

It has been quite a September for Mills, who received his first England Under-18 call-up alongside fellow Newcastle youngsters Roman Dowell, Kyran Thompson and Sam Alabi, but also made the bench in our 2-1 win over Hull after training with the first team. 

He marked his debut with a goal against Colombia, finishing from close range after Thompson’s effort was stopped, before coming off the bench against Egypt and producing an even more decisive contribution.

Mills has now helped England make it two wins from two and qualify for the semi-finals of the UEFA Friendship Cup with a game to spare.

The Young Lions will face South Korea on Wednesday, with Mills likely to feature again after impressing in his first two outings.
