WATCH: Nick Woltemade scores his first goal for Juventus in Europa League rout

Nick Woltemade has opened his Juventus account after scoring his first goal for the Italian giants in Thursday night’s Europa League clash with NEC Nijmegen.

The Newcastle loanee was handed his first Juventus start last night and marked the occasion by scoring from the spot as Luciano Spalletti’s side cruised to a 5-0 victory at the Allianz Stadium.

Woltemade gets off the mark

Woltemade was given the opportunity to take the penalty after Nicolas Gonzalez was brought down inside the NEC box.

The former Newcastle striker stepped up and confidently sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, making it 3-0 to Juventus in the 35th minute.

Woltemade’s celebration told a story, as the German looked relieved to open his account after a tough few months in front of goal. 

Juventus went on to add two more goals after the break through Zeki Celik and Randal Kolo Muani, completing a convincing victory in their opening Europa League fixture.

A big moment for Big Nick 

The goal will be an important moment for Woltemade as he continues to settle into life in Turin.

The Newcastle loanee admitted afterwards that getting his first goal was particularly important for a striker, while also thanking Gonzalez for allowing him to take the penalty.

“It’s been a beautiful evening, especially because of the result, and I’m also happy with my first goal here.

“You can play as well as you want, but for a striker the goal is the most important thing.”

Woltemade also revealed that he is continuing to adapt to his new surroundings, with the German currently learning Italian as he looks to become more comfortable at Juventus.
