Big claims from Italy on Sandro Tonali - Positive signs for Newcastle in pursuit of AC Milan star?
Some new information has arrived from Italy on Newcastle's pursuit of Sandro Tonali, as Sport Italia claim that the player's entourage have 'landed in London' to hold further talks with Newcastle United.
Late last night, it was reported by Sport Italia and The Athletic that we'd launched an opening bid for the AC Milan midfielder, with Sky Sports revealing this morning that he's a key target - alongside James Maddison - for Eddie Howe.
Now, Sport Italia - the same outlet that confirmed we'd beaten Milan to the signing of Sven Botman 12 months ago - are reporting that Tonali's representatives have arrived in the UK to discuss a potential move to St James' Park.
They state that our bid is in the region of €60m - €10m more than The Athletic have reported - and that talks are taking place over a four or five year deal ‘worth €6m', offering a sizeable increase on his current salary of €2.5m-per-year.
We await further updates from sources closer to Newcastle, but Sport Italia were up to speed on the Sven Botman saga - which heavily involved AC Milan - and seem to think things are progressing quickly when it comes to Tonali.
