Sutton, Savage & Merson release Newcastle predictions ahead of Bournemouth clash

Pundits Chris Sutton, Robbie Savage and Paul Merson are all backing Newcastle to beat Bournemouth tonight.

In his latest piece for the BBC, Sutton believes we will bounce back from Tuesday's defeat in Dortmund with a 2-1 win, feeling we'll have 'too much' for the Cherries, despite our injury crisis.

Merson expects a more convincing 3-0 win, feeling Bournemouth won't pose a threat after they were hammered 6-1 at Man City last weekend, while Savage is backing a 1-0 victory for Eddie Howe's Mags. He highlights our good record at the Vitality - unbeaten in our five trips - and is backing the hosts to go down.

Chris Sutton's prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Newcastle

'Newcastle's injuries are piling up but I still fancy Eddie Howe's side to bounce back from Tuesday's defeat at Borussia Dortmund, on his return to his former club.

'No matter how stretched the Magpies squad is, they should have too much for a Bournemouth side that is in a relegation battle. I'm going for another Cherries old boy, Callum Wilson to score the winner against his old club.'

Paul Merson's prediction: Bournemouth 0-3 Newcastle

'Newcastle have played some tough games already this season. They have squared off against some top teams in the early stages of the new campaign. Their fixtures haven't been too kind. Meanwhile, the likes of Arsenal, and Manchester City have had a decent mix of fixtures.

'But for the Magpies, it has been a patch of really tough games followed by rather easy ones. So when they're up against it, they are really up against it. Bournemouth are not playing well this season.

'They got pummelled by Manchester City last weekend and I don't see them posing much threat to Newcastle this weekend.'

Robbie Savage's prediction: Bournemouth 0-1 Newcastle

'Well, what a place to go for Newcastle because in the Premier League, they like going to Bournemouth. In the last five meetings, they’ve won two and drawn three at Bournemouth.

'Yes, Newcastle have injuries, but I think Bournemouth will go down this season – which I never thought would have been the case before the start of the season. But I think Newcastle will be looking to win, they’ve got a good record there.'
