Newcastle name six-man leadership group, new team captain and club captain - Report
As revealed by The Mail's Craig Hope, Bruno Guimaraes has been named the new team captain of Newcastle United and is now 'almost certain' to remain at the club.
With Jamaal Lascelles out injured and Kieran Trippier on the bench for Saturday's 1-0 win over Southampton, Bruno wore the armband for the first time in a competitive fixture - bit it's emerged that he's now been named our permanent team captain.
However, Hope also reveals that Lascelles has been promoted to a newly-created role of 'club captain', with Trippier expected to remain our vice-captain.
The same piece confirms that all three are part of our leadership group behind the scenes, which also consists of Dan Burn, Callum Wilson and Jacob Murphy; the boyhood Toon fan who has often been hailed by Howe for his character and professionalism behind the scenes.
It's believed Howe feels Bruno will only thrive from the extra responsibility, with it also sending out a message to the player himself, showing how valued he is on Tyneside by his manager and teammates.
