Player ratings from Newcastle's 4-0 defeat at Man City - 3s, 4s and a 5 in awful display
An abysmal performance at the Etihad as Newcastle United barely turned up in a 4-0 defeat to Man City.
Here's our marks out of 10 and comments on each Mag involved in today's battering in Manchester:
Dubravka (4) - Given no support by his defence. Looked a bit shaky in possession too.
Trippier (3) - Abysmal. Terrible defending for the opening goal and was run ragged. Also beaten for their second and was hooked at half time.
Schar (3) - Might be time to have an uncomfortable conversation about his form. Another awful performance and seems to be coasting along with no real competition for his spot.
Burn (4) - He at least tried which is more than you can say about his other defenders. Couple of good tackles but still looks awkward in possession
Hall (3) - Won’t enjoy watching the game back. Was given a torrid time by Savinho, constantly backing off and often being outpaced. Worst performance of the season.
Guimaraes (3.5) - Went missing again. Has been off the pace lately and wasn’t able to get any kind of foothold in midfield. Booked for a late tackle.
Tonali (4) - When the oppositions number 10 scored a hat trick then you have to question the performance of your defensive midfielder and Tonali was way off the level we’ve come to expect. Usual composure on the ball was missing
Willock (3) - Wasted a good position early and that’s about all I remember of his game today. Shouldn’t start another game for a while. Woeful
Murphy (3.5) - Was playing as an auxiliary right back due to Gvardiol playing so high. One decent cross in the second half was the only attacking output
Gordon (4) - Ran around a lot but offered none of the attacking impetus that we’ve seen lately. Couple of close offside decisions just prior to coming off summed it up
Isak (4) - Feeding off scraps all game and never really got into it. Rare off day but he was far from the only one
Subs:
Livramento (4.5) - Actually looked ok going forward with some direct running. Should regain his place for the Forest game
Miley (5) - Was lively, looked after ball quite well and had a shot on target. Looked like the most likely to make something happen. Would be unlucky not to start the next game.
Longstaff (3) - The equivalent to raising the white flag. Offered nothing when he came on
Wilson (3) - Only touched the ball a couple of times but at least he got some minutes under his belt
Krafth (NR) - Replaced Isak late on as we went to a back fiv.
